About Dr. Gillis

Dr. Gillis has practiced cosmetic and restorative dentistry in Grand Junction, Colorado since 1989. During this time, she has earned the reputation as a dentist who can provide beautiful and lasting results for her patients whether they have a simple problem with one tooth or very complex concerns involving all of the teeth and the function of their bite.

Dr. Gillis followed an unconventional path to dentistry, studying at the University of Colorado in Boulder where she received a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Design and Architecture in 1983. For the next two years, she worked as an entry-level architect and illustrator for firms in the Denver area. In 1985, Dr. Gillis was accepted at the University of Colorado School of Dentistry and received her doctorate of dental surgery (DDS) in 1989.

After completing advanced clinical training in 1989, Dr. Gillis accepted an associate position in Grand Junction, Colorado. In 1992, she opened her private practice. Moving into a solo office allowed the practice to grow and evolve around Dr. Gillis' philosophy of providing aesthetic, comprehensive dental care in a clean and comfortable setting.

In addition to her membership in local, state, and national dental organizations, Dr. Gillis is an Accredited Member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), the world’s largest association for cosmetic dentists.* She was the first and is currently one of only two dentists from Colorado to have achieved this honor.

Accreditation is earned by the demonstration of excellent skills in advanced restorative and cosmetic dentistry before an international panel of accredited dentists. In response to her stunning artistic results and obvious attention to detail during her own accreditation in 1996, Dr. Gillis was asked by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry to join the Accreditation Review Board as an Examiner. Since her accreditation, Dr. Gillis has also served as a mentor for other dentists undergoing the accreditation process.

To maintain the highest quality of patient care, Dr. Gillis attends over 100 hours of continuing education each year. This enables her practice to grow with evolving dental techniques and products. Her extensive training and experience in the expanding field of cosmetic dentistry allows her to use both science and artistry to create beautiful smiles for each patient.

Dr. Gillis' hobbies include painting, cooking, and exercise; she enjoys spending free time with her husband, Russ, and their 2 wonderful children, Jessica and Lewis.
